An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of disease, trauma or crowding.
Tooth extraction is always considered the last option for a tooth, especially for one that is severely damaged or diseased. If a root canal will not restore oral health, we may recommend a tooth extraction. If there is pain and discomfort, the extraction procedure will provide immediate relief.
If you need an extraction, we will first numb the area to lessen any discomfort. After the extraction, our dentists will advise you of what post extraction regimen to follow to assure that the .
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Our dentists monitor the development of wisdom teeth in children and will make the recommendation for extraction if it is necessary. In most cases, wisdom teeth affect neighboring teeth and cause bite problems when teeth become too crowded. For lifelong dental health and to avoid having teeth shift, the wisdom teeth are removed after they have erupted – come through the gum.
